My journey to world champs.
On the eve of my departure for the final 6 weeks of build up towards the UCI Junior World Track Champs in Montichiari, Italy, I thought it was timely for an update.
Since the end of the summer track and road season my riding has focused on long endurance rides along with motor pacing with my coach Hamish Ferguson, racing in the Winter Worlds and continuing with my S and C programme at the HPSNZ Apollo Centre.
I also had a very good 3 week training block in Invercargill with both track and road work – thanks to Syd Cumming, Jason McKenzie, the Beadles and the Strongs for all their help.
Unfortunately on returning to Christchurch I came down with the ‘flu, so had a week off the bike, but am now back into it!
On Saturday I fly too Melbourne with the NZ team for 5 days of racing in the ITS series. We then return to Cambridge for the final build up and fly out to Italy on August 13th.
It is both an exciting and nervous time and I am so grateful for the great support I have had and would like to acknowledge the following people and organisations – my coach Hamish Ferguson; Mike Greer Homes; Mike Greer Homes Black Magic Women Cycling team and Patrick Harvey; Pathway to Podium Canterbury and all the support people; Canterbury Cycling Centre; Canterbury Track Cycling Club; The Inspire Foundation, Canterbury Sports Foundation; Greg Fraine and Specialized; Cycleways and The Hub – all your support has made a huge difference.
